What is ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a common condition which affects both children and adults. It manifests itself in problems with attention, lack of focus, impulsive actions and general overactivity.
It is the most commonly studied and diagnosed psychiatric disorder in children. According to The National Resource Center for ADHD, "It affects between 5-8% of school age children, and between 2-4% of adults," although these estimates may be low (MacGeorge). Some research has suggested 2-16% of all school-aged children have been diagnosed with ADHD (Rader).
